About
After having completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Science degree Jami was not sure where she was headed next. When a friend confided that she was more afraid to breastfeed than to give birth to her new baby, Jami knew she wanted to help parents on their breastfeeding journeys!
Jami is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). This certification is the Gold Standard in Lactation Care, which required Jami to complete a minimum of 90 hours of lactation specific education as well as 500 clinical hours working directly with breastfeeding parents and babies. Jami trained at the renowned International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Jack Newman and staff.
Jami wrote her certification exam just days after graduating from IBC and welcomed her first child, only weeks later. With her training Jami was able to recognize that her immense pain while breastfeeding was caused by her daughter's tongue and lip ties, and was able to take steps to have them addressed. Jami is going on one year of successfully breastfeeding her daughter!
